Welcome Lemon Families! PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association, a school-based organization with a mission to make the school a better place for children to learn. Parents of students work together with teachers to volunteer in classes, raise money for school programs, events, and supplies, and generally support the school's efforts. PTA members are led by a PTA officer board that holds monthly meetings for planning and budget oversight.

PTA Board Meetings

Our PTA Executive Board meets once a month on Thursday evenings. Meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. in the school library. These are “nitty gritty” discussions. Parents are welcome to attend, but in a limited capacity. Only Board Members may vote at these meetings. Non-board member interaction and discussion is limited. Parents are encouraged to attend to when specific items need to be addressed with the Executive Board. Please contact our PTA President one week in advance of an Executive Board meeting to get approval for time in the meeting agenda. Meeting dates are listed below and are posted to the school calendar.

PTA Association Meetings

The PTA Association meeting takes place twice per year. These are the primary meetings for Association members. The Association is made up of everyone who has joined the PTA this year. The Board will share their plans for the year, provide updates, and hold votes for key items (e.g. approving our programs, events and expenditures). Without the Association’s vote, the PTA cannot conduct the planned activities for the year. Please attend and support your PTA. Note, only those who have joined the PTA may vote during these meetings. 8/31 (association meeting with Back-to-School) 03/21 (association meeting with Open House)

PTA Committee Meetings

Committees get stuff done. Want to help with the Spring Fling, join that committee. Want to help with the Fall Carnival, join that committee. Want to be part of the Thanksgiving Food drive, join the committee. Committee meetings are held as needed. Please fill out our Lemon Ave Volunteer Interest Form and we will get you connected to the right committee

PTA Board Roles

  • President

    Provides oversight for officers and committees, presides at PTA meetings, attends District Council Meetings, and works closely with the Principal. Provides ongoing support to PTA communication efforts, including flyers, Facebook, Instagram, and the school website. Check Signer.

  • VP Membership

    Responsible for implementing the annual membership campaign. Oversees shirts and swag, social media, website and calendar committees. Check Signer.

  • VP Volunteers

    Coordinates the Parent Volunteer Program with room representatives for each teacher. Provides liaison support to Art, Garden and Basket Docent coordinators, Reflections, and Garden Committee. Oversees Hospitality events including the Welcome Back Picnic, the Back to School diner for teachers and our Staff Appreciation luncheon and activities.

  • VP Ways and Means

    Oversees and helps implement all school fundraisers including Square 1 Art, book fair, fall carnival, silent auction, Tasty Tuesdays, and Kona Ice. Provides liaison support to the 5th and 6th Grade parents in charge of fundraising for their promotion activities. Check Signer.

  • VP Health and Safety

    Oversees and helps implement school activities including Fun Run and Olympic Field Day. Acts as liaison support to Cultural Arts Assemblies, Leopard DADs, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Military Family Appreciation Day, and Literacy Week.

  • VP Programs

    Oversees and acts as liaison support to the following committees: Spring Fling, Holiday Workshop, Variety Show, Movie Night, literacy week, and Family and Me Paint Night.

  • Secretary

    Attends and records minutes of all PTA Board meetings. Sends reminder notices to all PTA Board members prior to meetings. Creates annual book of all minutes and reports.

  • Treasurer

    Keeps permanent books of all monetary transactions and recording duties. Reconciles bank accounts monthly and provides reports during PTA Board meetings. Creates proposed yearly budgets with help of Budget Committee, to be approved by board. Check Signer.

  • Financial Reviewer

    Audits books of the Treasurer in January and July, and gives semi-annual written reports.

  • Historian

    Records activities and achievements of the PTA. Takes photos during events and programs and collects photos from teachers. Builds memory book and arranges purchase and distribution.

  • Parlimentarian

    Updates official PTA Bylaws once every 3 years. Assists in keeping monthly board meetings on track and ensures we are following rules. Organizes annual Nominating Committee for new board members.
